A little instrument panel pazzel
Per Han had drawn my attention to an apparent contradiction between the P2 master parts list and owner manual.
The drwaing of the instruments panel in the first is:
And in the other is:
While the petrol reserve knob indicates “reserve” upwards (12 o’clock) in the first, the same knob indicates “reserve” to the left (3 o'clock) in the second.
How come? And what is correct?
Observing panels that I have and photos of panels that others have suggests that the “list is right”.
And yet, the drawing in the handbook didn’t come from nowhere.
Looking carefully in an exposed panel you will see that the hole for the petrol reserve switch has two keys:
The switch itself has a single key, and it can be mounted in either position.
It turns out that both documents are right.
I guess that the people on the assembly line had been aware of that, and knew how to put the switch in the right position, in accordance with the writing on the panel.
